WELCOME.

                  Katerina Fretwell was born in NYC'N 1944.  She earned a B.A. and M.S.W.,
plus most of an Honours  English B.A. at Dalhousle University, and became a Canadian
citizen in 1970.  Fretwell has had 2 books published by Fiddlehead Poetry Books and 1
by Cranberry Tree Press, and poems in 46 North  American Journals, such as Prism
international, Windsor Review, Descant, The Pittsburgh Quarterly & 24 anthologies, i.e.
Harbour Publishing's Diy Wells In India, Mix Six, ,Close to the Heart, Licking  Honey Of 
A Thorn.  She is a member of Visual Arts Ontario, A Space Gallery, CARO, League of
Canadian Poets and other writers' organizations. Her "Quartzite Dialogues" poems were
performed in international music festivals in Japan and Canada, 1999.

                          In New York, Fretwell studied life drawing & pastel s under her aunt, the
late Ruth Waimer Wink (who studied at the Vincent Colorossi Institute in Paris) and took
three years of studio art from Richard Spier in Dobbs Ferry, NY- In Nova Scotia, Fretwell
studied oil painting from Mischa German Van Eck and life drawing from Jean Slick,       
In Ontario, Fretwell has studied with Heather Dawkins, Bert Weir, Sheila Hannon, and
the  late Elena Weir and Andrew Till in various media.
